I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the chaps who knuckled down and organised tomorrow's mini festival at such short notice. Stacey and Steve jumped as soon as they heard the news and I don't think much actual work was done. I know that many others have been involved, too, so well done all. It promises to be a fun morning. Don't forget your suncream, as well as plenty to drink. I am (hopefully) bringing a gazebo to provide a little shelter. I'll also try to remember my offerings for the raffle.
So with the sunshine blazing down , not a cloud in the sky and temperatures over 20deg we approach our 'mini tournament' on Saturday . We will be welcoming Ongar Juniors , Galleywood and Wilvale Ranger to fortress Fox Burrows Lane for what should be a mini soccer feast , each team participating gets the ball down and plays superb football encouraged all the way by a friendly crowd . And this is mainly what we hope to bring to the event , friendly football for all the boys to enjoy played in front of a larger crowd than normal who will cheer on each team as one .
And so it came to pass that the tournament had to be postponed until later that year ......
We will be holding a mini-tournament on Saturday 10th May. Six teams wil be taking part - Chelmsford City U8 Clarets, Whites & Blues, Wilvale Rangers, Ongar Juniors and Galleywood.
If you are able to help out on the day, perhaps by selling some raffle tickets, helping to run the penalty shootout game or setting up/taking down goals, please get in touch.
The first games will start promptly at 10:00am, and the tournament is expected to complete at around 12:30pm. A full schedule will be published shortly.
Please get in touch if you have any questions.
Thanks, Mark.
Well, the Champions League Final will be fought out between Manchester United and Chelsea. Strange that two English clubs and their fans will now have to fork out for travel and visas and non-existent accomodation to watch their teams. Wembley is much closer, but I wonder if it is actually any easier to get to? I suppose this means we'll be seeing more and more Chelsea shirts at training now? Whatever happened to picking one club and sticking with it?
