The Final league match before Christmas took part on a very heavy dug up pitch . The City boys started brightly doing their best to pass the ball around . Stones themselves played a good passing game and broke away often only to find the hugely impressive Oliver Holmes in defense and Tom Clayton in goal blocking their way . City Scored early doors through a nice exchange and finish by Ben T . Some further good teamwork and City were two in front after a nice Callum Blanks finish . City lead the game at Half time 2-0
Second half and once again City changed the majority of the players positions to gain some experience . Stones grew stronger and applied more pressure and it wasn't long before City management switched from their 1-3-2 formation for a more defensive 1-4-1 . Although this evened the match up again Stones attacked well and scored a well deserved goal mid half to bring themselves back into the game . City continued to create chances but started to look tired on the heavy pitch , management again opted to try and seal off the game and switched to 2-3-1 formation . No sooner had this been done than City increased their lead to 3-1 and so took a victory into the Christmas Celebrations
Man of the match Oliver Holmes , hugely impressive in defense , none shall pass
Special mention Benjamin Davidson , came on , got his head up and passed well , i do believe the first steps towards the new 'Ben D' have begun
May i take this opportunity to wish not only all the parents and players associated with Chelmsford City f.C but every player and parents involved in the Chelmsford Youth League Division One a very merry christmas and happy new year
