Chelmsford City 'A' 1 v 0 Wilvale

Extremely cold morning for a game of football . With minus temperatures the evening before the pitch recovered well to be ready for the 10am kick off . City started the game with a major surprise , Callum Blanks our usual goalkeeper was playing Centre forward with Thomas Clayton dropping into goal . The first half was an excellent exhibition of Youth football with City attacking well but Wilvale defending resolutely , keeping position and breaking up play . City looked most likely to score but when the half drew to a close at 0 - 0 the score seemed fair .
Second half and City management decided to take a risk , Sacrificing a midfielder for another forward and in so switching to a 1-3-2 formation . Again City applied the pressure but Wilvale looked comfortable in defence , City coming closest from a corner which was headed against his own crossbar by a Wilvale defender . The breakthrough came mid half when a well put together city move found Callum in front of goal with time to look up , his shot past the diving Wilvale keeper put City into a 1-0 lead , the half continued back and forth and Wilvale had a couple of good chances from Free kicks well saved by Thomas Clayton . The game came to a much welcomed end with the scoreline still City 1 Wilvale 0
Man of the match Callum Blanks , composure and movement in a new position justified his switch to striker .

Special mention for all the players and supporters of both teams who braved 1deg temperatures to make an enjoyable game in difficult conditions
