City went on their travels again on a windy wintry morning against local rivals Writtle Minors , winners of our Tournament back in May . City started the game kicking uphill against a strong wind . Playing to a high tempo the boy passed the ball well and created chances early on but each time coming up against a deep Writtle defense and a goalkeeper in fine form . Some wonderful crosses into the box were not met and chances went begging . The first half finished goalless but with the creative play and movement so good no tactical changes were needed at half time .
Downhill now and with the wind behind them again good chances were created , and when Harrison French danced past his defender and passed in a perfect low cross to be met by the arriving Marley Okosi there was only going to be one result , 1-0 to City . Minutes later and with crosses aplenty coming into the box the ball met , not for the first time , a Writtle defenders are and the penalty was awarded , up stepped Marley again to make the score Writtle 0 City 2 . City continued to pressure and Thomas Clayton found his range from distance and drove an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net , substitutions were made and players switched positions but the creativity pleasantly continued and on 18 minutes it was again Thomas from similar distance who drove in another sublime shot in via the post . City lept possession well and saw the game out to the conclusion .
Man of the Match . Oliver Holmes , perfect performance of concentration and distribution in defense , special mention to Callum Blanks who saw the whole game out in goal with little to do but with no complaints
