Chelmsford City Youth Football Club Under 9 Clarets

A wet and windy Chelmer Park bore witness to our second fun competition. This time around, it was an individual event, battled out over 4 rounds. Round 1 was called Burn Rubber and this was a mini series of sprint races. Isaac won race 1, 2nd was Ben T, 3rd was Tom C. Isaac won race 2, Marley 2nd, Harrison 3rd. Last race was won by Marley, with Isaac narrowly pipped into 2nd place, with Tom C 3rd. Overall sprint champion was Isaac, who recieved a mini box of Roses.

Event 2 was Cones of Fire, where the boys could show off their dribbling skills around a varied course, against the clock. A good effort, with Ben T and Marley tying for 1st place in round 1, closely followed by Liam, Isaac, then Harrison. Round 2 had ben T as outright winner, followed by Marley, Tom and Tom, Liam and Harrison.

Event 3 was Pingball, a target game where each boy had to hit a ball mounted on a cone at varied distances. Again, Ben T came out on top, hitting the top score of 10 with a long range effort that scored 5 points. Well done to Liam, Tom N, Marley, Harrison and Isaac, who all scored, too.

Finally, our Old Favourite, the penalty shootout. Overall winner was Isaac, with 2 pens from 3. We then had a couple more rounds and well done to Liam and Marley who battled it out with Stacey right to the end. A special note for the boys is that it doesn't look like you've much to worry about with the match against the parents, as their shooting was diabolical!!!

Of course, no one left empty handed, as chocs all round. Joe's efforts on the whistle and his penalties earned him a special bag of Maltesers! Also, thanks to the goalkeeper volunteers, too.
